Documents beyond the threshold, responsibility already on the other side
Officers of the Łódź CBA delegation detained the suspect in the Łódź Voivodeship. According to the investigation, the prison service officer had exceeded the powers granted to him as a public officer. The issue concerns official documentation.
The man stored it in a private residence, although he had no right to dispose of it exclusively. The boundary between professional duties and private space was thus violated in a very concrete way. Materials related to the investigation ended up outside the place where they should remain.
The investigators concluded that a boundary breach may have occurred in this case.
One arrest reveals a larger picture
After the arrest, the officer was taken to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź. There he faced the charge of exceeding the authority of a public officer. The prosecutor did not request a temporary arrest, but applied a liberty-protective measure in the form of police supervision.
This does not mean the end of the case, quite the opposite.
The current arrest represents another stage of an investigation that has been ongoing for several months. The proceedings concern the acceptance of material benefits and the violation of legal provisions by prison service officers. During the initial actions carried out in 2025, the CBA detained two officers. In their case, the court decided on a temporary arrest for two months.
The difference between the applied preventive measures is clear, but the context remains the same: investigators examine the conduct of public servants, from whom the state requires adherence to procedures and action within the bounds of the law. Each subsequent arrest expands the evidence material and can lead to new actions.
The CBA explicitly states that the case is developmental. Further procedural actions are planned.
Before the services knock first
Alongside the information about the arrest, the CBA reminds of the immunity clause provided for a person who has given a material benefit. A person involved in bribery must notify the CBA or the prosecutor and disclose all relevant circumstances of the crime before law enforcement learns of their involvement from another source.
The order of events is crucial; reporting the case only after the procedure has been revealed by the services does not meet the specified condition.
The CBA appeals to individuals who have information about the investigated procedure. They can report to the CBA Delegation in Łódź at ul. Rzgowska 34/36.
