Not President, but Treasurer. She Earns Twice as Much as Trzaskowski, Similarly in Łódź and Wrocław

In the town hall, the mayor can be heard the loudest, but the highest income does not always go to their account. In Warsaw, treasurer Marzanna Krajewska reported 488.9 thousand PLN per year, which is 263.4 thousand PLN more than Rafał Trzaskowski. A similar arrangement appeared in Łódź and Wrocław. Here’s how much weight cities give to people who keep a hand on the municipal cash register.

        Second plan, first responsibility

The treasurer rarely finds themselves in the spotlight. Behind the scenes, however, they control what no city decision can move from plan to execution without money. They check the consistency of expenditures with the budget and approve actions that create the municipality’s financial obligations. That’s far more than bookkeeping.

Every expense must pass a financial filter, and every signed decision must affect the city’s accounts. The treasurer therefore guards the mechanism that allows the municipality to operate within the approved budget.

The scale of this responsibility is not hidden; treasurers, like city mayors, town mayors, village heads, and councilors, file asset declarations every year. From these you can read how much they earned and compare their incomes with the salaries of the most recognizable people in the town hall.

Warsaw reveals the scale of the difference

The strongest contrast is seen in the capital, where Marzanna Krajewska earned 488.9 thousand PLN, about 40.7 thousand PLN per month. Rafał Trzaskowski reported 225.5 thousand PLN. Ms. Krajewska’s income was therefore more than twice as high.

Łódź repeats this pattern: Krzysztof Mączkowski reached 398.6 thousand PLN, and Hanna Zdanowska 283.4 thousand PLN. The difference was 115.2 thousand PLN.

In Wrocław, Marcin Urban reported 386.8 thousand PLN, while Jacek Sutryk 279.6 thousand PLN. Here the treasurer’s advantage reached 107.2 thousand PLN.

Behind Warsaw came Łódź with about 33.2 thousand PLN, Szczecin with 33 thousand PLN and Wrocław with 32.2 thousand PLN.

Further are Poznań with a difference of 29.7 thousand PLN, Gdańsk with 24.6 thousand PLN, Katowice with 23 thousand PLN, Kielce with 20.5 thousand PLN, and Białystok with 16.7 thousand PLN.

The difference between the first and last place was about 24 thousand PLN per month.

Salary tells who guards the city’s cash

The treasurer does not always outpace the mayor. In Kielce, Marzena Bzymek earned 245.9 thousand PLN, and Agata Wojda 257.3 thousand PLN. The city mayor earned 11.4 thousand PLN more.

Białystok is even clearer, where Stanisława Kozłowska reported 200.9 thousand PLN, while Tadeusz Truskolaski 273.4 thousand PLN. The difference reached 72.5 thousand PLN in favor of the mayor.
