Iran has appealed to the United States to lift the maritime blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, conveyed Donald Trump.
Iran asks the US to unblock Hormuz
Tehran decided to take this step as part of ongoing peace negotiations aimed at setting the conditions for ending the war in the Middle East.
“Iran just informed us that it is in a ‘crisis state’. They want us to ‘open the Strait of Hormuz’ as soon as possible, while they are trying to sort out the situation at the top of power (which, I think, they will manage to do!)”, Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
The situation became more complicated after the UAE’s Tuesday announcement of its intention to leave OPEC and OPEC+ on May 1.
As Reuters reported, the blow to the organization dealt by the UAE is a “victory” for the US president, who in 2018 was accused of “stealing from the rest of the world by inflating oil prices”.
More on this was written in the article: Shock in the oil market. UAE leaves OPEC and OPEC+. Reuters warns of “chaos”.
The parties to the conflict differ mainly on the vision of ending hostilities, which, according to Tehran, should not focus on limiting the country’s ability to develop its nuclear program.
