Although there are fewer job offers than in previous holidays, the earnings that people who take employment can expect can be satisfactory. This comes from Personnel Service data made available to “Fakt”. The newspaper reports that hourly rates can reach 50 PLN net. And that’s not all. Adding various allowances can make the hourly wage reach even 150 PLN.
Waiters Highest Paid
According to data provided by “Fakt”, the highest hourly wage in seasonal jobs this holiday can be expected by waiters, who can receive up to 50 PLN net. Working 8 hours a day gives 400 PLN, and working 20 days a month gives a salary of 8,000 PLN net. Note that waiter work in the summer season may not end at 8 hours a day or 20 days a month. People working on a contract can work 10-12 hours a day. Work may also not end at 5 days a week, as weekends can add to the busy period in gastronomy. This can give a salary far higher than 8,000 PLN. Especially since in this profession you can count on tips, which can double or even triple the hourly rate.
Do Poles No Longer Need to Travel Abroad?
Waiters are not the only profession where you can earn a lot in the holidays. This means that holiday work in Poland, where living costs are much cheaper than in Western Europe, is becoming more profitable than, for example, traveling to Germany or France.
Construction workers in Poland – as “FAKT” reports – can expect wages between 39 and 75 PLN net per hour. Working 10 hours a day, which is not unusual on a construction site, gives a daily wage of 390 to 750 PLN. In a month this can lead to earnings (with 20 working days) between 7.8k and even 15k PLN net. This is for people under 26, who are almost entirely exempt from tax. For those over 26, wages can be 30 to 60 PLN net, meaning 300 to 600 PLN per day (with 10 hours of work), and a monthly salary between 6 and 12k PLN net (with 20 days of work).
The third highest earning job is child care. They can expect wages between 31 and 57 PLN net for those under 26 and 26 to 35 PLN net for those over 26. It’s hard to estimate exact earnings because a child‑care worker doesn’t always work 8 hours. It could be 3 or 6 hours. Assuming full‑time work, for those under 26 the daily wage can be 248 to 456 PLN, and for those over 26 it can be 208 to 280 PLN. Monthly, this can give between 4,960 and 9,120 PLN or between 4,160 and 5,600 PLN net.
Note that child‑care earnings, especially in the holidays, can be irregular.
There are many more occupations that can bring substantial earnings in the holidays. Besides the three mentioned above, there are also fruit and vegetable picking, work in gastronomy, hotels or tourist facilities, or simply selling ice cream. Hourly rates in these places start at about 30 PLN net.
The amount of pay received for holiday work largely depends on the employee’s age, i.e., whether they are exempt from tax or not. And also on the number of hours worked. However, note that such jobs are usually seasonal, meaning employees are hired under civil law contracts, not employment contracts. Most often it is a contract for work, which means no contributions are deducted, including health or pension.
