Cannabis Combine Expands Its Operations. It Had to Find Exporters Abroad Due to Polish Law

Economic growth can be greater the more the state supports entrepreneurs, or at least does not put obstacles in their way. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. An example that, like a lens, shows how restrictions arising from Polish law can affect a company's operations in Poland and limit other entities that could have profited in the meantime.

This example is Kombinat Konopny, which plans to expand its activities to products such as medical marijuana. It is to be available in pharmacies. Due to restrictions arising from Polish law, the company from Gronów Górny near Elbląg, instead of letting domestic farmers profit, will be forced to cooperate with farmers from Greece.

      In Greece it works

Polish company Kombinat Konopny was founded in 2019. Over the following years of its activity it expanded its range of products that customers could use. The company is based on two pillars: herbal and textile.

"We grow legal hemp throughout the European Union, from which health- and environment-friendly dietary supplements are produced. Every month thousands of satisfied people reach for them. We want to reach the widest possible audience, who will see that you do not have to overpay for CBD products, because they do not have to come from expensive foreign cultivation" - we read on the company's website.

The company is also strongly present in the clothing industry. Recent bestsellers include a hemp duvet, hoodies, and a kimono made from a blend of cotton and hemp.

Now Kombinat Konopny wants to add medical marijuana to its product range, which will be available in pharmacies. Polish law prohibits the cultivation of this plant in our country, as it is not a fiber variety. This means the Polish company cannot cooperate with Polish farmers who could change their business profile, being sure they would find a buyer for their product. The company looked for a way out of this situation, so it decided to cooperate with farmers from Greece, where cultivation of marijuana for medicinal purposes is allowed. The company's authorities emphasize that the plant from Greece is of good quality, which is why the choice fell on that country. As admitted on the portal bizblog.spidersweb.pl, Maciej Kowalski, head of Kombinat Konopny, after passing through Portuguese facilities that package medical hemp produced in Greece, it will become a legal product that can be distributed in EU countries. The entire process is lengthy, so the representative of Kombinat Konopny admitted that it will only happen in the middle of next year.

Medical marijuana, which Kombinat Konopny currently sees as the melody of the future. At the moment the company can boast of a range of other products that are already available to customers. Among them are hemp-cotton clothing, hoodies, trousers, or dresses. Clothing is only one of many products offered by the company from Gronów Górny. Among them are also dietary supplements, oils, or cosmetics made from hemp. And that's not all. The offer also includes widely understood food, such as tea or beer made from hemp. Interestingly, the company produces goods not only for people but also for animals.
