    1. KAS conducts regular inspections

The National Revenue Administration systematically conducts inspections aimed at determining whether entrepreneurs’ activities, including tax payments, are carried out properly. This was the case with an entrepreneur in the logistics and transport sector from the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The inspection revealed that the company understated VAT, which would have caused significant losses for the state budget.

      Revenue Officers in Action

During the inspection, officers from the Podkarpackie Customs and Revenue Office in Przemyśl discovered irregularities in the Podkarpacie company. They noted that the entrepreneur had reduced VAT for a six‑month period. The total amount that did not reach the State Treasury in this way was 8.7 million PLN.

According to the authorities, the entrepreneur agreed with the inspection findings and decided to submit a corrected declaration for the mentioned period. The dishonest owner paid the overdue tax along with interest. In total, this amounted to 9.5 million PLN.

The National Revenue Administration reminds that the entrepreneur has the option to do so within 14 days from the delivery of the inspection result. At that time, they can submit a declaration or correct it, all to settle part or all of the unpaid tax.

      KAS conducts regular inspections

The fact that tax irregularities committed by the Podkarpacie entrepreneur were detected is not unusual. The National Revenue Administration conducts periodic inspections across the country to catch various irregularities.

In 2025, a total of 2.64 million inspections were carried out nationwide, including customs and revenue checks. This is a 9.4% increase compared to 2024. Thanks to KAS officers’ actions, 19.05 billion PLN were recovered for the state budget during this period, 29.1% more than the previous year, when the recovered amount was 14.76 billion PLN.

"KAS continues to focus its customs and revenue inspections on detecting and documenting fraud and tax‑related crimes, rather than policing entrepreneurs who make mistakes. This approach inherently reduces the number of inspections while increasing the findings and determinations made in audit activities," informs the National Revenue Administration.

Regarding tax inspections alone, there were 8,722 in 2025, a decrease of 11.3% compared to 2024, when there were 9,829. Despite fewer such activities, the effectiveness of collecting due tax was higher.

"In 2025, the amounts within audit activities increased by over 2.4 billion PLN compared to 2024, representing a nearly 28% increase", reports KAS.

During inspections, KAS officers encounter not only tax fraud attempts but also uncover fake invoices, which have become a real scourge. In 2025, 376.8 thousand were detected, an increase of almost 85.2 thousand, or 29.2% compared to 2024. The value of fictitious invoices detected last year was over 10.9 billion PLN.
