Technological rebound in the USA and awaiting June inflation in the country
On the other hand, on Sunday the United States and Iran agreed to suspend mutual attacks and meet on Tuesday in Qatar’s capital, Doha, to continue talks. Concerns about the durability of the previously agreed ceasefire affected the oil price by about 1.5% and slightly overvalued precious and industrial metals. Western European stocks also lost minimally. This mood was reflected in a 0.26% drop in the WIG20.
However, it does not change the situation on the blue‑chip chart, which consolidates below 3,600 points. The session overseas was decidedly better. After Friday’s undervaluation, tech stocks rebounded strongly (Nasdaq100 +2.1%), also supporting the broad S&P500 index. A slightly positive signal of market risk appetite was the weakening of the U.S. dollar – the EUR/USD rate rebounded by 0.3% and returned above 1.14.
Today the GUS will publish the preliminary CPI inflation estimate for June. BNP Paribas economists forecast that consumer price dynamics have slowed again and ended the month at 2.7‑2.8% year‑on‑year. Although on June 16 higher excise tax rates on gasoline and diesel were reinstated, which, ceteris paribus, raised fuel purchase costs by about 5%, this increase was offset by rapidly falling global oil prices. We expect that despite tax changes, fuels could have cooled by about 6‑7% in June. On Wednesday the May PMI for the Polish industrial processing sector will be presented. BNP Paribas economists expect the index to rise close to the threshold level of 50 points, aided by orders placed under the EU SAFE program.
