The video game industry does not forgive mistakes, and a late‑year crunch can ruin even the best productions.
The great escape from the holiday rush
CI Games decided not to risk a direct clash with entertainment giants during the pre‑holiday period.
The company’s board openly admits that the new release date is a great opportunity to launch the title outside the highly competitive publishing window. In this way the flagship project of the Warsaw studio will gain the deserved space and focus the full attention it undoubtedly deserves.
It is worth noting that this year’s holiday season will certainly be dominated by a Rockstar title, the long‑awaited GTA VI, set to release on November 19. Is that far enough before Christmas 2026? Well… both yes and no.
The first wave of players will certainly play the title at launch, but the next wave of purchases for a game expected since 2013 will likely fall during the holiday period; GTA VI under the tree could turn out to be the best gift for a gamer.
For developers it’s also a valuable breather. The extra time will be used to polish the mechanics deeply.
Additional integration, further iterations, and more time will allow us to reap the maximum benefits from the introduced fixes. Thanks to this, our team will deliver a complete, refined, and high‑quality game on launch day.

The market teaches humility, i.e., market fears and hopes
While from a player’s perspective extra polish is good news, the Warsaw trading floor has its own, more nervous rules. Information about delays of key releases rarely triggers euphoria among investors, and the shareholder structure of CI Games is crucial here. Analysts point out potential turbulence on the company’s stock chart.
Despite the slight shift driven by the desire to refine the game (which is important for CIG and crucial for long‑term sales), a negative market reaction is possible due to the relatively larger share of retail investors in the shareholder structure.
- comments Mateusz Chrzanowski, analyst at Noble Securities.
Individual investors can be impatient and react emotionally to schedule change news.
However, looking long‑term, delivering a polished hit instead of an unfinished half‑product is the only way to generate solid revenue and cement the company’s position in the global market.

Lesson learned from the past
Shifting the release to early 2027 shows business maturity and proves that lessons from market experience were taken into account. "Lords of the Fallen II" has huge sales potential, and the months of community engagement and high wish‑list position on Steam only confirm this.
The market, however, did not receive this news optimistically, as seen by the CI Games stock price, which fell by as much as 8,13% on June 24 to 2.31 PLN.
