Information was provided by “Rzeczpospolita”, which obtained documents indicating that Polish services, including police officers, were trained by Zondacrypto employees, an exchange that has recently stirred much negative emotion. It is worth noting that the training took place both before the current government and during the tenure of the current ruling coalition.
Services participated in training conducted by Zondacrypto
According to “Rzeczpospolita”, training involving Polish services, led by representatives of the cryptocurrency exchange, was held for years. Starting in 2018. At that time, the training was conducted by representatives of BitBay, which later transformed into Zondacrypto. Participants included police officers and prosecutors. And that’s not all. National Revenue Administration officers also took part. This might not have caused such controversy if not for the fact that some of these sessions took place in December 2024, when an investigation was already underway against the company due to suspected irregularities. The Ministry of Finance confirmed the training involving “Revenue Administration” staff, as reported by “Rzeczpospolita”.
It turns out that in similar sessions led by Zondacrypto representatives, many Polish services participated, including police. The Main Police Headquarters confirmed to “Rzeczpospolita” that such training occurred from January 2018 to September 2024. Participants included officers from the Central Office for Combating Cybercrime. In total, they were to attend 12 training sessions on the cryptocurrency market.
Thousands of Poles lost money
Zondacrypto is a Polish-originated, but Estonia-registered cryptocurrency exchange. The platform allowed buying and selling cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. Thousands of people used its services. At some point, they lost access to their money, which they could not withdraw. On April 17, 2026, the Katowice District Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for significant fraud and money laundering.
The services are also investigating the disappearance of the BitBay founder, who vanished under unexplained circumstances in March 2022 at the age of 33. He is said to possess keys to 4.5 thousand bitcoins worth over 300 million dollars.
