In an official statement JSW announced the conclusion of an agreement financing mining leave and leave for employees at mechanical coal processing plants.
Government millions for protection
The total value of the state grant for 2026 amounts to about 287 million PLN. According to the plan, the program will cover exactly 3,092 people.
The entire operation is a key element of the transformation of the hard coal mining sector, resulting from the revised law and the special Support Program for the hard coal mining sector in Poland, adopted by the Council of Ministers’ resolution.
It may seem that tightening the budget for severance will ease investors. The devil, however, lies in the details of the current report. JSW acknowledges that:
[...] the estimated value of the impact resulting from the agreement with Representative Trade Unions (...) will decrease. This change results from a lower-than-expected employment level compared to the status as of February 1, 2026, which is the result of implementing protective measures.
For financial markets, accustomed to cold math, these personnel shuffles signal heightened risk.

The exchange does not trust assurances
Although the company is implementing the state plan, shareholders react nervously, and the stock chart mercilessly turns red.
The JSW share price fell on June 26 by 2,11% to a level of 24,58 PLN.
The state grant of about 287 million PLN stabilizes the social situation but does not solve the fundamental profitability problems of the company. Market investors know well that restructuring is a marathon, and the current decline in JSW listings shows how difficult and costly the transformation of the giant will be in the coming years.
The signed agreement is merely patching holes, and the real battle for the company’s survival on the floor has just begun.
