Volodymyr Zelensky in the heat of criticism. Krzysztof Bosak: "We should announce that Poland will block Ukraine's accession to the European Union"

Ukraine and its president Volodymyr Zelensky have been on the lips of many Poles, including Polish politicians, for several days. This is related to the decision made by the Ukrainian leader to award the name “Heroes of the UPA” to one of the military units. Vice Marshal of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak speaks of a far more radical reaction than that proposed by President Karol Nawrocki.

After Volodymyr Zelensky decided to award the name “Heroes of the UPA” to the Independent Special Operations Center "North", a unit within the Ukrainian army, a real storm broke out in Poland, at least among part of society and politicians. Let us recall that the so‑called “Heroes of the UPA” are the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which was subordinate to the Banderist faction of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists collaborating with Nazi Germany, on whose orders they carried out murders of many peoples, including Poles in Volhynia.

The decision of the Ukrainian president was met with a swift reaction from President Karol Nawrocki, who proposed that the White Eagle Order Chapter consider revoking this decoration from Volodymyr Zelensky. The Polish president unequivocally stated that he supports such a decision. So far, the Polish government has taken no significant steps following the Ukrainian president’s decision.

Vice Marshal of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak proposes more radical steps than those indicated by the president. Among them blocking Ukraine’s accession to the European Union for years.

      European Union not for Ukraine

Krzysztof Bosak, during a conversation on the radio RMF FM, admitted that Prime Minister Donald Tusk, in the event that the White Eagle Order Chapter decided to revoke the decoration from Volodymyr Zelensky, should sign a counter‑signature, which is necessary to deprive the Ukrainian president of the most important Polish decoration. The Vice Marshal of the Sejm admitted that he would move to more significant, not just symbolic actions that would make the Ukrainian authorities think.

“If we want to exert real pressure on Ukraine, we also need to move to more serious gestures that will be more effective,” admitted Krzysztof Bosak, one of the leaders of the Confederation on RMF FM.

Among them blocking Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

“First of all, we should announce that Poland will block Ukraine’s accession to the European Union for as long as they do not withdraw from the cult of war criminals and fully unlock all exhumations. Ukrainians have another agreement on this matter with Germany, another with Poland. In the case of Poland everything is blocked, in the case of Germany – not. We are treated as a second‑class state,” added the Vice Marshal of the Sejm.

Krzysztof Bosak also proposed that Poland withdraw from financing Starlinks for Ukraine, which costs the state budget about 50 million dollars a year. The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski cited this amount in one of his posts on X.

"Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs at a cost of about 50 million dollars a year," wrote Sikorski.

Right‑wing politicians call for more radical actions

Among the politicians of Law and Justice and the Confederation, who seem most outraged by the Ukrainian president’s conduct, more radical suggestions began to appear, even in statements to Polish media. Among them were blocking the airport in Podrożewski Jasionka, from which military equipment is supplied to Ukraine. The facility has become a kind of transit center since the outbreak of the full‑scale war in Ukraine, used not only by the Ukrainian army but also by state authorities led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who repeatedly used this facility when traveling to the West or the United States.
