Dawid Kacprzyk, after his earnings were revealed by the portal Zero.pl and the case was publicized, allegedly that Civic Coalition politicians were being hired at the Warsaw South Hospital under special conditions, was dismissed from the Warsaw facility. On Thursday the public was informed that the young doctor had resigned from his role as a councilor of Ursus, and also returned half a million PLN to the hospital. According to city information, since 15 June Dawid Kacprzyk corrected 33 invoices covering the period from 31 January 2025 to 16 June 2026. But that does not end the matter, because the hospital where the young doctor worked is undergoing inspections. Among others, the Warsaw city hall and the National Health Fund. On Wednesday the Extraordinary Control Chamber also announced its inspection at this facility, as did Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Huge earnings of the health minister
The controversies surrounding Dawid Kacprzyk’s earnings in healthcare do not end there. In fact, the topic that made the young doctor an unglorious hero once again sparked a discussion about doctors’ and hospital directors’ salaries. All the more so in times when billions of PLN are missing for treating patients, and more medical facilities are being shut down.
Jolanta Sobierańska‑Grenda, the head of the Ministry of Health, should know how large healthcare earnings can be. Before joining the government, she served as director of four seaside hospitals: the PCK Marine Hospital in Gdynia, St. Vincent and Paul Hospital in Gdynia, the F. Ceynowa Specialist Hospital in Wejherowo, and the Pomeranian Center for Infectious Diseases and Tuberculosis in Gdańsk.
In seven months of work in 2025, before she started at the Ministry of Health, she earned 725 thousand PLN – according to the declaration published by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Earlier, her salary was also not low. According to “Fakt” in 2021, Jolanta Sobierańska‑Grenda earned almost 406 thousand PLN, in 2022 about 454 thousand PLN, in 2023 nearly 489 thousand PLN, and in 2024 over 569 thousand PLN.
From mid‑July to the end of 2025, as head of the Ministry of Health, Jolanta Sobierańska‑Grenda earned significantly less. It was just over 113 thousand PLN.
Civic Coalition politicians run hospitals and earn fortunes
Several Civic Coalition MPs have resigned from their parliamentary salaries in exchange for the ones they receive as heads of medical institutions. Elżbieta Gelert, who is the head of the Elbląg Provincial Hospital, earned almost 442 thousand PLN in the medical facility last year. She also received a parliamentary allowance of 46 thousand PLN – according to her asset declaration.
Another politician who combines hospital work with a parliamentary role is Krzysztof Bojarski. He runs the Independent Public Health Care Facility in Łęczna. For this, he earned 521 thousand PLN last year. Additionally, he received a parliamentary allowance of 36 thousand PLN. His asset declaration also shows that he earned income from running his own business, amounting to over 71 thousand PLN.
