Karol Nawrocki, as head of state, had to submit an asset declaration for the second time. The first time he did so after being elected president. The document was submitted on 6 August 2025, and released by the Supreme Court nearly a month later, on 4 September. At that time the declaration concerned the state at the end of 2024. The new document, dated 31 March 2026, concerns the assets of President Karol Nawrocki at the end of 2025.
Nearly 340 thousand zlotys in savings
In the 2025 asset declaration two properties were listed, which President Nawrocki also disclosed in the previous version of the document. It is a cooperative apartment that Karol Nawrocki owns. The unit has an area of 57 square metres. According to the declaration, the president is its sole owner. The head of state also owns half of the shares in another residential unit of 58 square metres.
Besides real estate, President Karol Nawrocki also listed financial assets he has accumulated. That is 339 thousand zlotys. This amount is significantly higher than the one given in the previous version of the document, when the president indicated savings of 130 thousand zlotys. The new document does not explicitly state what caused such a clear increase in this amount, nearly threefold. One can only speculate that it is due to a higher salary received by the head of state, as well as relatively lower expenses, because as president Karol Nawrocki can use many services for free.
In the asset declaration, Karol Nawrocki indicated that part of the income he earned in 2025 came from the 800 plus benefit. That totals 19.2 thousand zlotys. The president also has a fixed expense. That is the repayment of a mortgage. As of the submission date, 197,783.23 zlotys remained to be repaid. In the previous version of the document, the declared amount to be repaid was 199,981 zlotys.
End of the flat controversy
In the asset declaration, as in the previous version, there was no information about the owned studio that caused much emotion during the election campaign. The matter began during a presidential debate on Super Express, when Karol Nawrocki said that like every Polish person “has one apartment.” Those words did not stir emotions. The article that appeared after the debate on the Onet portal on 30 April 2025, a little over two weeks before the first round of elections, triggered the reaction. At that time Onet journalists revealed that Karol Nawrocki owns two apartments, including a studio he had bought with cash in 2017 from Jerzy Ż. At that time Karol Nawrocki admitted that he has the right to such a unit, but does not use it at all. He had acquired the right to help an elderly, ill neighbour get out of a financial hole. During the election campaign, Karol Nawrocki announced that he would donate the property for charitable purposes. He kept his word. On 14 May 2025, a donation agreement was signed. Karol Nawrocki donated the apartment to the Christian Charity Association of Gdynia.
