The years 2021 and 2022 in building construction in Poland were very good, which is visible in the issued building permits and notifications of construction with a construction project for nonresidential buildings. According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the useful area in the building permits and notifications issued in 2021 and 2022 amounted to 20.4 million m2 for each of these years.

Due to the pandemic and the dynamic development of the ecommerce market, the demand for warehouse space has significantly increased. Industrial and warehouse buildings accounted for 55% of the area of permits and notifications in 2021 and 2022 compared to the 2011-2020 average of 38%. Mercor provides its services especially in this group of buildings, which are characterized by a fairly simple shape. Mercor is also present in office buildings and hotels, but to a much lesser extent.

Data for 1H’ 2023 indicate a decrease in the value of the useful area covered by issued building permits and notifications for non-residential buildings by 8% yoy. In the category of industrial and warehouse buildings, the decrease amounted to 10% y/y. These are simple buildings, usually without underground floors. The construction time of such buildings is relatively short, usually not exceeding 1 year. The categories of hotel buildings and office buildings recorded an increase of 30% and 15%, respectively, but their share in the structure is less important.
